Following the first leg of visiting northern Israel (see the previous leg in this post), we made our way into Jordan. Although this trip was a holy land trip, we got to spend a couple of days in Jordan. We went to Jerash, Mount Nebo, the Jordanian capital — Amman — and Petra! All images taken with the Fujifilm X100f. Jerash is located in northern Jordan, our first stop after crossing the border from Israel. We spent a few hours walking the second-century Roman ruins. But before the walking, some original Jordanian cuisine!
After visiting Jerash, we briefly stopped at Mount Nebo located in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, it’s the mountain considered to be where Moses saw the Promised Landed before he died, according to the Old Testament. The Bible says that Mount Nebo was where Moses lived out his final days and saw the Promised Land. We were here for a very short while right before closing time so I took very few photos.
and so after our quick stop at Mount Nebo, we drove to Petra for about 4 hours to stay the night and spent most of the following day in Petra National Park. We walked for several hours so here are the images I like the best from that hike. The most iconic view called “The Treasury” is an archaeological site unknown when it was exactly built, it is estimated at around the first century BC. All the locals were gracious enough to accept getting their picture taken!
And lastly, a few images of the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Next stop, Jerusalem – click here to see the post.
