January 2018 Random Shots with a Vintage Lens

One of the things I love doing with the Fujifilm X cameras is adapting older lenses. These vintage lenses are optically excellent and are more than often found at really cheap prices, at least compared to the so-called great, modern and much more expensive lenses.

I took some photos with an Auto Sears 55mm 1.4 with a M42 mount which I easily adapted to the Fuji X-T2. I found this lens really cheap on eBay and decided to take a plunge at it without knowing too much technical stuff about it.

The main thing to note about these legacy lenses is they are manual focus. But most mirrorless cameras out there today have a peak focus function which makes it really easy (and fun) to manual focus. The lens is probably not as sharp as some of the modern lenses but it’s sharp enough for my leisurely photography style, especially for the price.
